6 outdoor cabins you need to check
friend, If you had to live in a cabin with no internet for 30 days, which one would you pick?
This might sound like a stupid question, but that’s what I ask my clients when they say they want an outdoor cabin!
I show them 6 different types of modern-farmhouse-style cabins, and then I go ahead and create a design based on the style they pick.
So let me show my top 6 outdoor cabin styles!
1. Classic Log Cabin
Think traditional charm with a classic log cabin. Imagine a cabin crafted with interlocking logs, a steep-pitched roof, and a grand stone fireplace that anchors the living space. Add a wraparound porch to soak in the natural surroundings—perfect for those who appreciate the rustic beauty and craftsmanship of yesteryears.
2. Modern Minimalist Cabin
Picture a cabin that embodies a sleek, minimalist design. Clean lines, a monochromatic color scheme, and large glass windows create a space that feels open and connected to the outdoors. The use of materials like steel, glass, and polished wood enhances the modern vibe, ideal for those who love contemporary aesthetics and expansive views.
3. A-Frame Retreat
Opt for an A-frame cabin, with its distinctive steep roof and simple, geometric structure. This design is especially great for snowy locations as the snow just slides right off. Inside, there's a cozy loft space for sleeping, cleverly maximizing the compact layout and vertical space—it's snug, efficient, and charming.
4. Treehouse Cabin
Elevate your cabin experience—literally—with a luxurious treehouse. Features like suspension bridges and decks nestled among the treetops, along with windows that provide panoramic views of the forest, make for a truly immersive nature experience. It’s an adventurous twist on traditional cabin living.
Embrace the Scandinavian ethos of simplicity, minimalism, and functionality. Light woods, large windows, and a neutral color palette create a space that’s both airy and cozy. This style is perfect for blending comfort and practicality, making the cabin feel like a serene escape in snowy woods or lush landscapes.
6. Off-Grid Eco Cabin
Design a cabin that’s not just in nature, but part of it. This eco-friendly abode features solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and composting toilets, with architecture designed for energy efficiency—think green roofs and superbly insulated walls. It’s ideal for those wanting to significantly reduce their environmental footprint while enjoying the great outdoors.
