DIY Rustic Wooden Blanket Ladder

The farmhouse piece you can't miss this Winter.

I have to admit it, when Winter comes around, there is nothing I love more than turning on my fireplace.

Actually, I’m wrong, do you know what I love more than a fireplace in Winter?

A Rustic Wooden Blanket Ladder next to it!

It’s, in my opinion, the most classy farmhouse-style piece anyone can have in your living room.

So today, I’m here to give you the exact steps I followed to build my own, let’s go!

Materials Needed

#1 Wooden Dowels or Rungs: 4-6 pieces, depending on desired ladder height (commonly 18 inches long).

#2 Two Long Side Rails: Usually 6 feet in length, 2x4 inches (can be adjusted for size preference).

#3 Wood Screws: 8-12, depending on the number of rungs.

#4 Sandpaper: Medium grit, for smoothing rough edges.

#5 Wood Stain or Paint: Color of your choice to match your decor.

#6 Drill and Drill Bits: For making holes and screwing in the rungs.

#7 Saw: If you need to cut wood to size.

#8 Measuring Tape and Pencil: For accurate measurements and marking.

#9 Safety Equipment: Gloves, goggles, and masks for protection.

Instructions:

#1 Prepare the Wood: Cut the side rails and rungs to your desired lengths. Sand all pieces to remove splinters and rough edges.

#2 Measure and Mark: On the side rails, mark where each rung will go. Ensure equal spacing between each (usually around 12-15 inches apart).

#3 Drill Holes: At each mark on the side rails, drill holes slightly smaller than the diameter of your rungs. This will ensure a snug fit.

#4 Attach Rungs to Side Rails: Apply wood glue inside each hole, then insert the rungs. Secure each rung with wood screws from the outside of the side rails.

#5 Stain or Paint: Once the ladder is assembled, apply your chosen stain or paint. Let it dry completely.

Final Touches: Once everything is dry, your blanket ladder is ready to be used. Place it against a wall and arrange your blankets or throws.

You can’t tell me this ladder doesn’t give that perfect modern farmhouse aesthetic touch to your house… I simply love it!
