A modern farmhouse MUST check these boxes✅

Hey friend,

Jacob here!

Last week, a guy booked a consultation call with me because he’s looking into building a modern farmhouse,

And he asked me what are (in my opinion), the top modern farmhouse tips I wish I had known when I built mine.

As soon as I heard that question, I immediately thought of sharing my answer with you…

So let’s get into it.

1. Natural is a vibe

You can mix natural elements like wicker, wood, linen, and iron to bring the outdoors in. Also, add textures with jute rugs, linen pillows, and cotton covers but make sure you’re not overdoing it. Choose leather or linen for upholstered furniture for a fresh, farmhouse feel. But the most important thing…keep the balance and avoid too much "shabby chic" to maintain the modern vibe.

2. Less is more

Focus on space by keeping decor minimal for a cozy, yet tidy feel. Use warm colors with black accents for warmth. A large wooden table with sleek chairs combines old and new. Stick to a few bold items and light colors to keep rooms open. Choose open shelving to enhance spaciousness.

3. Black + White = Perfection

Contrast is what gives life to your place, Vlad! It’s a key element in the modern farmhouse design, bringing warmth and that cozy rustic feeling. But as with anything, don’t overdo it. Find the balance that best fits your home!

4. Industrial accents

The best designers in the world use the industrial style to make a home stand out from the norm. So if you want your home to feel special and unique, add industrial accents to your home.

Friend, your home MUST check these 4 boxes above if you want it to look & feel like a real modern farmhouse.

And sure, there’s a lot more I could add to the list,

But after over 14 years of designing I found these 4 to be the most important.

So keep them in mind!

With passion,

Your favorite modern farmhouse designer,

Jacob from Truss & Beam
