Ultimate rustic kitchen guide📖
Friend, crazy as it sounds, I used to hate my kitchen until just a few years ago…
And not for some obvious reasons like little to no space, outdated design, or poor lighting.
But because the kitchen was the one thing I could never quite master as a modern farmhouse designer.
So every time one of my clients would call me in for a complete design,
I’d bring a guy who specialized in modern farmhouse-style kitchens with me, and it was a hassle…or at least that’s what I thought.
After a couple of months of closely working with this person, I kinda started to figure it out on my own, but I wanted to make sure it was right…
So the day after I invited him over for a cup of tea and asked him what he thought about my kitchen,
And before I knew it he started spitting “fire” at my kitchen lol.
But instead of getting offended, I listened closely, writing everything down...
And after he left, in my hands I was holding the ultimate modern farmhouse kitchen design blueprint… finally.
I then memorized the points and totally forgot about the list…
Till last weekend, when while cleaning an old cabinet I wanted to get rid of, I came across it, and I thought you might find it useful,
So here are 4 tips taken directly from the list:
#1 — Switch up the cabinets
Consider revamping your cabinets by painting them in neutral hues such as white, gray, or soft pastels.
Replace the modern hardware with rustic knobs and handles.
#2 — Bring in a touch of nature
Introduce elements from nature to add warmth and authenticity to your kitchen.
Installing butcher block countertops or a farmhouse sink can anchor your space in the farmhouse style.
For an added rustic touch, use reclaimed wood shelves to display decor or store kitchen essentials.
#3 — Get the lighting right
Proper lighting is crucial in defining the ambiance of your kitchen.
Opt for light fixtures that reflect a rustic or industrial aesthetic, such as pendant lights with exposed bulbs or classic lanterns.
Adding dimmer switches allows you to adjust the lighting to suit any occasion, enhancing the functionality and mood of the space.
#4 — Accessorize with personality
Personalize your kitchen with decorative elements that resonate with the modern farmhouse style.
Incorporate vintage or antique items to add character, and choose textiles like gingham or striped patterns for a homely touch.
Don't underestimate the impact of greenery; adding plants or fresh flowers can bring life and vibrancy to your kitchen.
Good thing I found it uh?
